Marion Harris is a practicing community health nurse, ministry leader, and health education professional with over 3 decades of experience. Marion has proven career success in health education, community engagement, and program development within unique, culturally diverse communities. She is recognized as an authentic leader  and mentor who partners with various public and health service agencies and faith-based organizations to propel health-centric objectives in alignment with Healthy People 2020 benchmarks.

Marion holds a Master and Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master in Education from the University of Phoenix. Her additional career experience inlcudes nurse manager, case manager and director roles.  She has served in a leadership capacity for several associations including the Health Ministries Association, the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, Alameda County Health Ministries Network, University of San Francisco Helen Dillar Comprehensive Cancer Center Community Engragement, Sister’s 3 Cancer Resource Network and Northern California Eccelesatical Jurisdication of the Church of God in Christ.

Marion has served as an adjunct professor, education consultant, and master trainer  for the University of California, San Francisco,  Samuel Merritt University, Ohlone College, Canada College, John Muir Health, the BASS Church Conference, Health Ministries Association, and the Westberg Institute. She has educated and mentured hundreds of students on various nursing, community, and public health topics in support of nursing certification and gerontology programs.

As a Faith Community Nurse Educator, Marion has co-chaired and facilitated multiple community events, conferences and programs such as the Faith Community Nursing Conference, a 38-hour course focusing on key components of community health practices, including spirituality, professionalism, and wholistic health. Marion is also recognized as a convenor of partners with health and social service agencies to develop and implement education programs, preventive screening, and resource referrals to promote healthy living and reduce health disparities.

Marion has participated in 3 community-based research projects led by Dr. Pasick from San Francisco Helen Dillar Comprehensive Cancer Center Community Engragement on Mechanisms & Capacity to Reduce Disparities: The Abundant Life Health Ministries  and Identification and Education of Low-Income Women at Risk for Hereditary Breast Cancer, 2nd Opinion Breast Cancer. She served as the Community Partner Principle Investigator  for the University of California, Berkley & Kaiser Permanente, Division of Research to identify strategies to assist African American women obtain free and reduced cost mammograms.
